William didn’t look up again until he had fed. “We’re vampires.” He finally whispered to the murdered couple. -James Patterson, Violets Are Blue pg. 39

The vampire-like killers in this novel remind me of the young vampires from the twilight series. In this book, two boys and their pet tiger have been living and feeding off people in San Francisco for some time. Like the vampires from twilight; they were taught by those who were original vampires, and essentially created by them, though they were not infected by a bite. They are more like serial killers than vampires though, as they wish to kill not to spread the vampire “curse.” They are also better at covering up their tracks than the twilight vampires, and never leave any DNA or finger prints at a crime scene, where as the twilight vampires kill their victims and leave them where they drop.

  1. AWESOME BOOK! I LOVE JAMES PATTERSON! Have you read "Don't Blink"by him? If you haven't you should!

You supported your statement:"The vampire-like killers in this novel remind me of the young vampires from the twilight series." really well, however you could've added some more detail.

It was interesting that you made a connection that other people would be able to understand because they have read Twilight. They then would understand the storyline and etc.,but this might not have happened if you chose a less popular vampire novel.

    Awesome start!

  2. This book does sound similar to Twilight except the Cullen's do not each humans. This family is all "vegetarian" but instead of not eating animals they eat animals instead of humans. There are many other vampires in Twilight that do sound like the two boys is this novel. The wish to not spread the curse is the same between both novels. The Cullen's don't want to change anyone into a vampire unless its urgent. There are many similar qualities between the vampires in these two novels.
